How much text a detector needs to make sense
Below one hundred characters nothing can be judged. A usable result starts with a continuous paragraph and becomes more reliable from a few hundred words. With very long texts, on the other hand, a single number loses its usefulness, so it is better to split by chapter.
Why a short text is not enough
Detection is built on statistics — on the variance of sentence lengths, on word frequencies. In three sentences there is no statistics.
DetekceGPT therefore requires at least one hundred characters. Even above that threshold, the shorter the text, the more cautiously the result should be read.
Where a reasonable minimum lies
One continuous paragraph gives a result you can work with. Several paragraphs are better.
For the style baseline a stricter threshold applies: only texts of two hundred and fifty characters and up count towards the profile.
And what about a text that is too long
For a hundred-page piece of work, one number is an average that hides the details. Split it by chapter.
That also gives you a map — you will see whether the suspicious passages cluster in one place or are spread evenly.

Can I check a single sentence?
No. Below one hundred characters the check does not run, and even slightly above that the result is arbitrary.
Does it matter if the text contains quotations?
It does. Someone else's text shifts the result, so take it out before checking.
Is there an upper limit?
A practical one, yes — the longer the text, the less a single number says. Files can also be uploaded up to ten megabytes.
